Sports has always been my passion. Growing up in India, it was my dream to play basketball in the NBA. I was fortunate that I could play basketball through high school, representing Maharashtra at several national basketball championships and playing for India at the international level. This wasn’t easy – many friends and students I knew gave up competitive sports because it would compromise academic commitments in the higher grades. And for those who continued, it was a battle – juggling school, tuition classes, tests, exams, sports training, extracurricular activities and family commitments.

This underlying approach is what I love about Corvuss American Academy – that we get to offer students an exciting and different pathway to achieve their goals.
I was drawn in three years ago, when my husband and co-founder, Kunal Maria, shared his vision with me about developing a school for children who are passionate and talented in sports. What really appealed to me was the idea that children could pursue a high quality academic degree without having to drop sports once they reached grade 8 or 9 in school and then go on to seek pathways to college through a combination of sports and academics.

I have always been very passionate about sports and education. As a former athlete myself, and having educated several aspiring athletes in my previous school, I truly understand the mission and vision behind Corvuss American Academy. When I heard about the opportunity to lead a school integrating sports and academics, it immediately peeked my interest. After understanding the vision and requirements by the Board of the School, I am convinced that I have the expertise and leadership skills to fulfil them and ensure each student at our Academy reaches their fullest potential.
As an educational leader I will use my experience to create an environment where youth are trained to become global citizens with proficiency in their chosen sport and with the academic rigour needed to get into the college of their choice.
What personally stood out to me is our unique ability as a school to address an area in the educational landscape in India vis a vis students having an environment where sports and academics coexist and thrive. Students do not have to choose one or the other. They can develop their passion for sport irrespective of their level of proficiency without having to sacrifice on the quality and rigour of their academics.
With my boarding school experience of over 25 years as an educational leader I aim to bring pastoral care to the forefront of our school by moulding our students into future global leaders. All the students will benefit from the warm, positive atmosphere in their dorms. Health, wellbeing and safety is at the heart of everything we do and safeguarding the children in our care is my number one priority.
Collectively with my motivated and experienced teachers, coaches and administrative staff we are committed to education that is inclusive, holistic, progressive and pioneering. Lessons learnt in the classroom transfer to the sports field and lessons learnt on the sports field transfer to the classroom.
I aim to build a robust bond and a vibrant channel of communication between the students, parents and faculty to help Corvuss reach grater heights of success.

Hello, I am Akshay Ahuja, an Economist, Educationist, and Career Counselor. I have been honored with the Padma Bhushan Sammaan, India’s second-highest civilian award, as well as the Bharat Gaurav Ratna Shri Sammaan, the third-highest civilian award. Additionally, I have received the Mahatma Gandhi Desh Seva Puraskar by ministry of corporate affairs, Government of India. I hold a B.Com (Honours) and M.Com (Marketing) from DAVV, an MSc in International Economics from the University of Greenwich, London, and a Honorary Doctorate from World Human Rights Protection Commission, from N.Y. United States of America, With over 10 years of experience as an academic coordinator, I currently serve as both the academic coordinator and WASC coordinator at Corvuss American Academy. I also serve as a National Member of the World Human Rights Protection Commission, United States of America, and have been recognized among the Top 100 Teachers of India by the Indian Education Awards in 2024. My passion lies in inspiring and motivating students to reach their full potential. I believe that education is the key to unlocking limitless opportunities.
