Application Process & Documents FAQs

Q. If Aadhaar and birth certificate have mismatched surnames, will the form be rejected?

Yes, application forms will get rejected if the Aadhar and birth certificate have mismatched surnames. For Delhi admissions, schools only accept the Birth Certificate as the main proof of a child's name and date of birth. If the surname is different from the Aadhaar card, parents must provide a legal affidavit. Without it, the school can reject the application.

Q. Can mismatched addresses between the child and the parents cause rejection?

Yes, this can lead to rejection. Address proof is an important document, especially for distance-based points. An address mismatch or any document found to be "defective" or "non-genuine" during verification can result in the cancellation of admission, even if a seat was initially offered.

Q. Will schools accept students without final exam results from the previous school?

While this is rare for entry-level, but for mid-session transfers, a school might grant provisional admission based on the previous term's report card. However, this admission is only confirmed after you submit the final exam results and the official Transfer Certificate (TC) showing promotion to the next class.

Q. Can duplicate applications get rejected?

Yes, absolutely. Submitting multiple applications (duplicates) for the same child in the same school (even under different categories) will lead to cancellation and rejection of the candidature, even if the child is selected in the draw.

Q. If wrong documents are uploaded, can the form be corrected or re-submitted?

No, you cannot correct or re-submit the form after final submission. Uploading the wrong documents is a serious error that can, and often does, lead to the application being rejected during the verification stage, even if your child is selected in the draw of lots.

Q. For Nursery admission forms, should we select "Pre-School" or "Pre-Primary"?

In the context of Delhi admissions, "Pre-School" is the official term for Nursery (age 3+). "Pre-Primary" is the official term for KG (age 4+). Always select the class based on your child's age as of March 31st of a particular year when you are trying for admissions.

Q. How to attach or download Google Map distance proof?

To attach distance proof, parents must measure the shortest straight-line (aerial) distance between their residence and the school and submit proof of this measurement.

  • Use the "Measure distance" tool on Google Maps to find the straight-line distance between the school and your residence.
  • Capture a screenshot clearly showing the two pinned locations and the measured aerial distance.
  • Convert the screenshot to the required format and upload it as proof; the school uses this calculation for awarding distance points.

Q. What format or stamp paper value is required for single girl child or first child affidavits?

Affidavits (like for single girl child, first child, or distance) are typically required on Rs 10 non-judicial stamp paper or as prescribed by the specific school. They must be duly notarized by a Notary Public. The school or DoE often provides the specific wording or format.

Q. Why am I not getting acknowledgement/confirmation emails from some schools after applying?

This is common and normal due to overwhelming number of applications received by schools. Not all schools have an automated email system integrated with their application portal. As long as the portal where you filled the form shows "Submitted" or "Acknowledged," your application is considered received.

Q. I applied for admission, but haven't received any link for interaction yet. What should I do?

Schools often take time to process the applications because of the huge number of applications that come in. In case your application gets through, you will soon be contacted by the school.

Q. Why has my application status changed from "Waiting for Result" to "Acknowledged"?

This is a normal procedural update. "Acknowledged" simply means the school has successfully received or downloaded your application from the portal. It is now in their system, and the status will change again after the admission draw is conducted.

Fees, Refunds and Financial Matters FAQs

Q. Are admission fees refundable if admission is cancelled?

If a parent cancels admission in a private unaided recognised school in Delhi, the school must return the admission fees.

If the cancellation happens because the parent, on behalf of their child, did not submit original documents or gave false information, the school must return all the fees except the registration fee. If parents withdraw their child's admission within one month, the school can keep the registration fee, admission fee, and one month's tuition fee, but must return the rest of the money within 30 days.

Q. Are private schools allowed to increase fees mid-session?

No, it is illegal for a private unaided recognised school in Delhi to increase fees mid-session. The fee structure is approved for an entire academic session (April to March) and cannot be changed arbitrarily in the middle of the year.

Q. What does "yearly cost" include? Is monthly tuition part of it or separate?

"Yearly cost" or "Annual charges" almost always include monthly tuition fees, often paid quarterly or half-yearly. It also includes development fees, exam fees, and charges for activities like sports, computer labs, and smart classes, as declared by the school in its fee structure.

Q. Are schools demanding hidden one-time charges (building fund, development fees)?

These charges (Building Fund, Development Fee) are legal but must be declared upfront by the school in its approved fee structure, not hidden. The DoE caps development fees (e.g., at 15% of annual tuition) for schools on subsidised land, though this is often legally contested.

Q. Some schools are offering early admissions before the first list, asking for fees in cash. Should we accept?

This is a major red flag and likely an illegal attempt to collect a capitation fee or donation, which is banned. All admissions must follow the official DoE timeline.

EWS/DG and Reservation Quotas FAQs

Q. Do SC/OBC/minority students get fee refunds or extra benefits?

SC/OBC students are eligible for the 25% free EWS/DG quota (except in minority schools). Separately, eligible SC/OBC/Minority students can apply for post-admission tuition fee reimbursement schemes, subject to income limits.

Q. How do I know if seats are available in higher classes under EWS/DG?

You can check the official Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) website edudel.nic.in. Admissions for classes 2 and above under EWS/DG are not guaranteed in a given year. Admissions are announced only if specific vacancies arise in schools for higher classes. The DoE will release a circular listing available seats if such a round is conducted.

Q. Do schools in East Delhi follow the 25% EWS reservation rule strictly?

Yes, it is a legal mandate under the RTE Act to give 25% seats to EWS, DG, and CWSN categories. But reports and court cases show that schools do not always follow it strictly, and sometimes students are left out because of problems in the system.

Q. Is EWS valid only till Class 8, or till Class 12?

Under the national RTE Act, it's mandated till Class 8 to provide free education to EWS category. However, in Delhi, private schools built on government/DDA land are required to provide free education till Class 12. For other schools, this is a subject of ongoing legal debate.

Q. Can parents apply in both Open Category and EWS/DG simultaneously?

No, the Open/General category and the EWS/DG category admissions are not the same. You must apply in only one. EWS/DG applications are centralized through the DoE portal, while General category applications are handled by individual schools or common portals.

Q. For EWS admission, whose caste certificate (parent or child) is required?

EWS (Economically Weaker Section) does not require a caste certificate. It requires an Income Certificate (showing annual income below the prescribed limit) issued in the name of the child's parent/guardian. Caste certificate is required for DG admissions.

Q. For caste certificate, is parent's certificate valid or child's certificate required?

While the child's own certificate is preferred, the caste certificate of the father (and in some cases, the mother) is also accepted, provided you also submit the child's birth certificate as proof of relation.

Results, Waitlists and Post-Submission FAQs

Q. When do schools release admission lists and lucky draw results?

Private unaided recognised schools in Delhi usually announce admission lists for Nursery, KG, and Class 1 around 3rd week of January. They declare the lucky draw results for reserved categories like EWS and DG by early March. Parents can ask questions or clear their doubts in mid-January after the admission lists are released.

Q. If my child is waitlisted, what are the chances of admission?

The chances of your child's admission if they are waitlisted vary greatly. Admission depends on your specific waitlist number and how many selected parents decline the offer (often because they've accepted a seat at another school). A low waitlist number has a fair chance, but it's never guaranteed.

Q. How can I check if my child has been selected in a school?

For the General/Open category, results are published on the Ezyschooling school profiles. Parents can also check out individual school's website or their physical noticeboard.

Q. Do schools publish multiple lists (first, second, waiting)?

Yes, schools generally publish multiple lists of students selected for admission. Schools release a "First List" of selected children, followed by a waitlist.0 After the fee submission deadline for that list, they release a "Second List" (and sometimes a "Third List") to fill the seats vacated by parents who did not take admission.

Q. Do schools announce timings and venues for lottery/draw results?

Yes, to ensure transparency, schools conducting a draw of lots must inform parents of the date and time. Many schools conduct this live, sometimes streaming it online or in the presence of parents.

Q. What happens during the query resolution period? Are admissions finalized then?

No, admissions are not finalised in the query resolution period. This period is for parents to check the points allotted to them by schools. If you see a mistake (e.g., you got 0 points for distance when you live nearby), you can contact the school to get it rectified.

Q. After applying, what happens next and how soon do schools contact parents?

After applications close, schools first upload a list of all applicants. Next, they upload the points awarded to each applicant based on their criteria. Finally, they release the first list of selected children (and a waiting list), usually in January, on their respective official websites for general category admissions.

Q. How can we track if schools have received or acknowledged our forms?

Most schools provide an automated email confirmation or a printable acknowledgement slip after successful online submission.

If you have applied through Ezyschooling, you can click on the ‘Track Application’ button, which is visible towards the bottom of your applied school form. Here, you can check the current status of your application. Further, if you have enabled tracking while purchasing the form, you will also receive real-time status updates through SMS, WhatsApp and e-mails.

School Selection Strategy FAQs

Q. How many schools should parents apply to for higher chances?

Given the high competition around school admissions in Delhi, parents should apply to at least 12 to 15 different schools. This multi-application approach balances your applications between "safe" schools (where you score high points (e.g., close distance, alumni status, etc.) and "Reach" schools (desirable schools where admission will depend entirely on the draw).

Q. Should parents make two lists of schools (favourite vs. practical options)?

Yes, this is a very good strategy. One list should have your "dream" or "favourite" schools, even if the chance is low. The second "practical" list should include schools where you have a high probability of admission (e.g., very close distance, sibling points).

Q. How to shortlist schools near a particular locality within a set distance (e.g., 5-6 km)?

Use online school admission portals like Ezyschooling. These platforms have filters that allow you to enter your locality and set a "Location & Distance Range" (e.g., 0-5 km, 5-10 km) to find all registered schools within that specific radius.

Class, Age & Transfer Rules FAQs

Q. Why are some schools not accepting KG admissions?

Some schools might not be accepting KG admissions because of a lack of vacant seats. Schools usually promote their entire Nursery batch directly to KG, resulting in few or zero seats available for new KG admissions.

Q. How should parents handle cases where schools name classes differently (Prep, LKG, UKG)?

Schools may use different names like Prep, LKG or UKG, but admissions in Delhi are based on the DoE’s age rules, not the class label used by the school. So parents should match their child’s age to the official admission levels — Nursery (3+), KG/Pre-Primary (4+), and Class 1 (6+). Even if a school uses terms like LKG or UKG internally, new admissions will still happen according to the age bracket, not the name of the class.

Q. Can a child continue in the same school from Nursery to Class 12, or do some schools end at Class 8/10?

It depends school-wise. Many private schools (Senior Secondary) offer education from Nursery to Class 12. However, some schools are recognised only up to Class 8 (Middle) or Class 10 (Secondary). Parents must verify the school's "Senior Secondary" (Class 12) affiliation status before admission.

Q. Which schools actually follow NEP with LKG/UKG system?

Most schools still use the "Nursery/KG" or "Pre-School/Pre-Primary" terminology. The NEP's new structure (Balvatika 1, 2, 3) is being phased in. You should apply based on the old structure (Nursery at 3+, KG at 4+) unless a school explicitly states it is using the new Balvatika system.

Q. If my child is already in play school, can I wait and apply later for KG?

Yes, you can wait and apply for KG even if your child is currently in a play school, because play school is not a mandatory stage in the Delhi admission process. Just remember that KG seats are limited since most schools fill the majority of seats at the Nursery level, so getting admission later can be harder.

Q. How to transfer a child from an Army School or Government School to a private school in West Delhi?

To move a child from an Army or Government School to a private school in West Delhi, parents must ask the current school for a Transfer Certificate (TC). They then need to give the TC, school records, and proof of address to the private school. After that, they must complete the admission process, which may include filling out forms or taking an entrance test if needed.

Q. Can I transfer my child from one school to another in the same class?

Yes, this is called a mid-session admission and depends entirely on seat availability in the new school. You will need a Transfer Certificate (TC) from the current school. It is not part of the regular admission draw and is handled directly by the schools.

Q. How can I shift my child from ICSE to CBSE? Will there be issues?

At the entry-level (Nursery/KG), it makes no difference. For higher classes (like Class 2+), it is possible. You will need a Transfer Certificate (TC) from the ICSE school. The CBSE school will review the TC and the previous report card to grant admission.

Portal & Offline Process Queries FAQs

Q. Are Delhi school admissions through Ezyschooling accepted by all schools, or only partnered ones?

Applying for Delhi school admissions through Ezyschooling is currently possible for “partnered” schools. We are looking to expand and get more schools on board soon.

Q. Why do some schools show "Closed" for certain classes on Ezyschooling?

"Closed" typically means the application window for that specific class is not open. Admissions are either finished for the year, or the school is not accepting new students for that grade.

Q. What happens if Ezyschooling shows eligibility for higher class (e.g., Class 2) while the child is in Nursery?

Ezyschooling calculates eligibility based on the date of birth parents enter while creating the child’s profile, and the classes shown follow the DoE age criteria. So it’s unlikely that the system will display an incorrect class. If something still looks confusing, you can always speak to our admission experts for clarification.

Q. My payment was deducted but the form was not filled. What should I do?

In case this happens, wait for 24-48 hours, as it might be a bank-side delay. Check your bank statement for a transaction ID. Then, contact Ezyschooling portal's helpline (if applied through Ezyschooling) with the transaction details. Do not pay again immediately.

Q. Some schools are calling to submit hard copies even after applying online. Is this mandatory?

If you've applied through Ezyschooling, you won't be asked to submit the application form again in hard copy and schools will only call you later for document verification. However, if you applied directly on a school’s own website, some schools may still ask for physical document submission as part of their internal process.

Q. If a school calls for document submission before the admission list is out, should we go?

Yes, you should go, as it's part of that school's specific process. They likely want to verify your documents (like address proof) to finalise the points before they create the list. Take originals for verification and self-attested photocopies for submission

Special Categories & Policy-Based FAQs

Q. Can we get admission in convent schools without references if we are non-Christian?

Yes, admission is possible in convent schools without references if you are non-Christian. As minority institutions, convent schools can reserve seats for Christian candidates. However, they also have "Open" or "General" category seats available to all. Admission to these seats is based on the school's specific criteria (distance, sibling, etc.), not references.

Q. Is management quota admission available in Delhi schools?

Yes, private unaided schools in Delhi are legally allowed to have a management quota. The Delhi High Court upheld this right, allowing schools autonomy in their admissions. Schools can reserve a section of the 75% open seats under the management quota.

Q. What is the process for NRI student admissions?

NRI admissions are handled separately from the General or EWS categories. Parents usually apply directly to the school under an "NRI Quota". This requires specific documents like the child's passport and visa, and the fee structure is typically different (often higher).

Q. Are boarding school admissions in Delhi handled differently?

Yes. Boarding schools are not part of the DoE's centralized admission schedule for entry-level classes. They have their own timelines, fee structures, and admission criteria, which often involve an assessment or interaction, and they cater to students from all locations.

Q. Is there undue pressure on parents to admit younger kids in nursery?

Many parents feel pressure to put their young children in school early because of competition and few nursery seats. They worry about getting admission on time so their child can start learning early.
