According to the new rules by the DoE, students applying for admissions for 2023-24 term under the quotas: Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Children with special needs (CWSN), and Disadvantaged groups (DG) will have to show their Aadhar cards. The Directorate of Education (DoE) stated that this decision was taken as per the contemplation of the Government of NCT of Delhi (GNCTD). It stated that the use of Aadhar will secure the goals of fairness, uniform, transparent and hassle-free admissions, and curb malpractices of certain candidates.

It was noticed in the past that certain applicants would fill multiple applications with falsified names, addresses and other personal information to gain seats. Such deceitful activities made it harder for actually eligible candidates from EWS, DG and CWSN to get admission.
The DoE also explained that the Aadhar will only be used to minimal details for the sake of confirming the candidate’s identity. Personal information like biometrics will not be stored or shared.
